Understanding CNC Pricing.

When it comes to calculating pricing for CNC machining, and ultimately how much it will cost to cut your job, it's difficult to determine and set definitive prices without creating a complex formula that's cumbersome, hard to use and difficult to understand.

CNC pricing depends on many variables. The primary determinants, or most likely to influence the price of a CNC job, are typically:

-    The size of the object to be machined,
-    The complexity of the shape (i.e. how many ‘binary surfaces’ it contains),
-    The raw material to be used,
-    The quality of finish that’s required.

To learn more about each of these factors and how they each interact to determine a price, click here.

At Styrotech CNC, 3-Axis machining costs start at a maximum of $180/hr + GST, while 5-Axis machining starts at a maximum of $295/hr + GST.

In both cases, this is the starting rate based on a minimum of one hour machining time; if your job will take longer then both the 3 and 5-Axis machining rates reduce from there (i.e. they become less expensive). Remember, every job is different, and every quote is based on your custom requirements so, if you have any queries or want to learn more, please get in touch.

In order that Styrotech CNC can process your quote and respond to you as quickly as possible, please try and send us CAD files of your project, a summary of what you require including what material you want to use and your time-frame. If CAD is not yet available, please send us as much information as you have – what material(s) you want to use, overall dimensions and if possible drawings/schematics – in order that we can come back to you with a cost effective and timely quote.

Styrotech have been CNC cutting our PVC foam centerboard blanks for over 6 years now. The resources Styrotech bring to the job make it a seamless process giving us the best results.
